07 Apr 5 Tips On How Your Mind Can Become Your Most Valuable Tool During Menopause
Our Minds Change Our Reality
Most people are waiting for that magic pill, a new diet, new exercise equipment or training technique that will miraculously turn their goals into reality. The fact of the matter is that your mind is by far your most valuable tool. Learn how to use your mind to achieve your goals. Your mind leads your body!
Consistency over intensity. Exercise and healthy nutrition go hand-in-hand and have to be a part of your life. The good news is that there is no “one right way” of doing this. The key is to start with small changes and to do them consistently. Don’t try to change everything at once. Menopause doesn’t happen overnight and neither will a solution. Focus on what affects your quality of life most and as you learn more about what’s working well for you, keep making adjustments. Throughout the process, remind yourself that you’re doing the best you can. What can you commit to today? Don’t worry about what you think you “should” be doing. One day at a time.
Become persistent and resilient. Resilience is the art of bouncing back and is necessary to persist while experiencing menopause or not. The menopausal transition is full of unexpected changes. Just when you think you have found the perfect solution something changes and you have to start from scratch. If your original plan doesn’t work, you need to come up with another one. If your backup plan doesn’t work, guess what? You need to find another. Keep on going and adapting because life never really goes as planned until maybe it does! Persistence is key.
Work in progress….always. No matter who you are or what you’ve accomplished, you can always grow. Continuous improvement goes hand in hand with focusing on the journey rather than the result. If you’re having fun with the journey, your end result will continuously change because you will have new skills, new goals, new aspirations, and new challenges to tackle. This is especially true for managing menopause. Treat each stage as an opportunity to get more in-tune with body and mind.
Focus on the journey, not the destination. If you focus too much on the end result, you will never truly appreciate the journey and the person you become along the way. If you focus on finding fun in the process, you will already have succeeded. Make it fun and the rest will come!
Set specific goals. You’ll never achieve anything great by accident. Know what your final goal is and set small baby step goals until you attain your overall goal. Have you actually taken the time to determine exactly what you want? Set specific, quantifiable, and most importantly realistic goals for yourself with a time frame in mind.
Stay curious, unafraid and armed with knowledge!
